Yummy Candy Cane Snowballs!!!!!

Last year my son and I made these delicious candy cane cookies to use up the last of the candy canes from Christmas.
They must have been a hit because the minute I bought some candy canes this year he immediately started asking if would make them again. :)

This morning I got a call letting me know that the schools in our area would be closing and I had to go immediately and pick up our boys. Our area is under a big storm watch and they wanted everyone to get home before the roads became dangerous.

Having the afternoon at home with my boys I thought it would be fun to make some yummy cookies.
My little guy was my main helper but my older two had to get in on the candy cane destruction ...lol

Here they all are having their turn at breaking up the candy canes:

Here they are all finished:

They turned out really yummy, I have just finished mine and I am now sitting with a nice cup of tea :)

I hope that you have a wonderful night...

Here is the recipe for these yummy cookies:

Candy Cane Snowballs

3 c. powdered sugar, divided
1 1/4 c butter, softened
2 t. vanilla (or if you’d prefer a stronger peppermint flavor, you can replace 1 t. of vanilla with a teaspoon of peppermint extract)
1 egg
3 c. flour
1 T. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
3/4 c. finely crushed candy canes, divided

Icing
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2-3 T. milk

1. In a mixing bowl, beat 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar and butter until fluffy. Add vanilla and egg and beat until combined.

2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir to combine. Slowly add to mixing bowl, beating until combined, about 1 minute. Stir 1/2 cup finely crushed candy canes in by hand.

3. Roll dough into small balls using just under a teaspoon of dough. Rolls balls through granulated sugar to coat and place on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cool.

4. While cookies bake, stir together remaining 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar with 2-3 T. of milk. Add just enough milk to form a thick glaze. Drizzle over cooled cookies and top with remaining crushed candy canes immediately.

Some Nail Fun

For Christmas I wanted to get my sister something really cool and something that would be just for her. She was asking for some house hold things and I found out that one request she made was for a new garbage can for her kitchen. I really did not feel like buying her a new garbage, so in keeping with my fun and cool theme I bought her a nail art stamping kit and some new nail polish. We both really like painting our nails, so I wound up buying one for me too...lol. I thought at least this way it would be a new fun thing that we could do together.
I have had a lot of fun using my nail stamping kit and I have been busy trying all the different plates. It is a lot easier than I thought it would be and I find myself using it all the time! :)

Here is the nail polish I used,

and here are my finished nails :)

I love how it all turned out, but I was a little disappointed that it chipped so quickly. It only lasted about 3 days. I wonder if it's because I only used one coat of the base colour instead of two. I will have to try with two coats next time and keep track of how long it lasts.

I don't think that anyone bought my sister a new garbage can for Christmas, so I hope that she was able to find one during all the Boxing Day/ week sales...lol

I hope that you have a great day :)

Some Cards

Hi there, sorry it has been so long since my last post. I cannot believe how fast this month has gone. Usually January is such a long month for me, but this year is has just flown by. We have been pretty busy this month, so that is probably what helped....lol.
The next month that I typically dread is March. It is also a really long month and it can go either way weather wise. If it is warm it is very mucky or it's cold and snowy. By then I have had enough of all the snow and cold and I am really ready for spring!!! Lol

This past weekend I went to my first crop. It was a lot of fun and I was able to get a big chunk of a mini that I am making for my mom done :) It was great!!! I had an hour and half where I just got to sit and craft, with no interruptions and I got to meet a lot of very nice ladies :)

Over that past couple of weeks I have been working on some Valentine's crafts for my husband and boys, but I have also made some other cards as well.
One of my good friends is expecting her second baby in August so I made this cute little card to send to her and her husband.

This fun little card is a 4 1/4 square card and the fun oven and bun is cut from the Wild Card 2 Cricut cartridge, which my mom gave me for Christmas...lol
The sentiment is from a My Pink Stamper stamp set and the paper is from a pack of paper I got at Costco.

The second card I am sharing today is a card I made for my old doctor. We moved back in the summer, and were luck to have found a new doctor here in our new city. I wanted to send our old doctor a thank you note. She had been my doctor since I was 12 years old, and she had been a wonderful doctor for me and also for my husband and boys.
This is the card I made for her:

This card is a standard A2 sized card. The roses and sentiment are from Papertrey Ink. I wanted something clean and simple so I just stamped the flowers and sentiment and then mounted it on some co-ordinating purple paper.

I hope that you have a wonderful day today.

Our Last Christmas Gathering

Today we are off to our last Christmas gathering of the season, which has been rescheduled twice already!!! I am happy that is a go for today, but I am having to go solo with the boys, my hubby is sick with the flu :(
It has been going through our house for the last month, popping up every time we have some where to go!!! lol. I have never had to canceled so many events over one season before!!!
It feels funny wrapping up presents, with Christmas almost two weeks ago, but I am happy we get to see everyone today :)
Today I wanted to share this cute wine label I made to "dress up" some wine that we are giving to my cousin:

It was really easy to make, it is a tag from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and more Cricut cartridge. I used my gypsy to lengthen it and then cut out this cute label from the Elegant Edges cartridge. I stamped it with some snowflakes and done, a cute and quick label :)
I hope that you are having a great day :)

Happy Birthday Becky

Happy New Year's!!! I just wanted to take a moment and wish my good friend Becky a happy birthday! I won't be seeing her for a couple of weeks, but I have made her a card that I will be popping in the mail. It will be late at this point, but better late than never...lol.

Here is the card that I made for her:

This cute little card is a one layer card and is a standard A2 sized card.
It was made using some fun Lawn Fawn stamps. The cake and sentiment were stamps from the Bake me a cake stamp set and the fun confetti is from the Let it Snow stamp set. To add some texture to the cake I paper pierced the layers from some Classic K papers.
To finish it off a added a white ribbon and some yellow glitter to the candles :)
I am really happy with how this card turned out, and I hope that it will travel quickly to Becky...lol :)
I hope that you have a wonderful New Year's Day!

Cheryl
